Gambling911.com has received confirmation that FanDuel will not be offering any Super Bowl 50 contests.  Furthermore, Citigroup just announced that they will no longer allow transactions for either FanDuel or DraftKings via their bank-issued cards.

The reason for this: Current federal law stipulates that at least two events must be offered in order for fantasy sports contests to be legal and this includes Daily Fantasy Sports.

Citigroup, the world’s biggest credit card lender, announced it will be blocking transactions on two of the biggest sites, New York-based FanDuel and Boston-based DraftKings, starting Super Bowl Sunday.  Both sites were still offering contests for NBA, Golf and other sporting events.

Citigroup says it will block the payments until New York courts rule on the legality of daily fantasy sports.

“I think it makes sense,” Tom Staudt, a sports fanatic sitting at a sports bar told PIX11. “They’re afraid of a legal battle… and I think taking bets on a credit card is a dangerous game to play.”
