Cornel Cimpan Wins the 2009 L.A. Poker Classic

Cornel Cimpan had his biggest payday of his poker career winning $1,686,760 at this year's LA Poker Classic, which concluded during the early morning hours of Friday February 27.

Cimpan held off the likes of poker pro extraordinaire, Chris Ferguson.

Binh Nguyen was eliminated in 2nd Place paying $935,424.

Mike Sowers was eliminated in 3rd place paying $654,797. 

Chris Karagulleyan, the leader coming into the final table, left in 4th place with $430,963.

Ferguson finished in 6th place and was $240,538 in the money.

Heading into the 2009 LA Poker Classic, Cimpan had only won $170,242 in career live tournament play.
