Phil Ivey On Top: Leads With Chip Counts at WSOP Main Event

One of poker’s greatest players of all time, Phil Ivey, continues to excel at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event.

After Day 2, Ivey led with chip counts, 505,000.

Ivey's performance up to this point can best be described as dominant. He became the first player in the entire field to cross the half million chip mark, he is the only player to finish in the top five chip counts for both Day 1 and Day 2, and he had more than 100,000 chips than his nearest competitor at the dinner break. Right now Ivey sits with a huge stack of 505,000 chips which makes him the overall chip leader. The only thing at this point that can slow Ivey down is the fact that this tournament is far from being over. There were 1,047 players that survived Day 2C and they will join the 817 players that survived Day 2AB for a grand total of 1,864 players that will be returning for Day 3. It will be the first time in the tournament that the entire field will play simultaneously.

Total entries for this year’s event came in at 6683 with 1864 entering Day 3.

2012 Big One for One Drop champ Antonio Esfandiari, Eric Cloutier, former WSOP Main Event champ Chris Moneymaker, Marvin Rettenmaier, Barry Greenstein, David Einhorn, Todd Brunson and Theo Jorgensen just to name a few.
