A rapper killed in a brazen Las Vegas Strip shooting last week reportedly worked as a pimp.   Kenny Cherry Jr. (AKA “Kenny Clutch”) was shot while behind the wheel of his Maserati.  He then slammed his car into a parked taxi killing both the driver and a passenger.

Cherry's live-in girlfriend, Asmayit "May" Hagos, was arrested in 2011 for soliciting prostitution, criminal conspiracy and grand larceny-trick roll.  She is listed as having worked for Cherry.

And she's not the only girlfriend Cherry had who allegedly worked as a prostitute.

John L. Smith of the Las Vegas Review Journal writes:

A check of the arrest record of a former girlfriend of Cherry shows the same pattern of prostitution behavior: Arrest, negotiation, fine, and back to work.

In 2007 Cherry Jr. was convicted of a gun charge in California and, according to court documents, the emerging rapper also severely beat a former girlfriend who was also the mother to one of Cherry’s children.

She claimed to have been used as a prostitute and suggests that most of the money earned went directly into Cherry’s pocket.

Smith notes:

On Sept. 1, 2011 at the apartment they shared, she would write in an affidavit, "He chased me down the hall. I tried to lock myself in the bathroom. He broke the door and started hitting me, over and over again. I tried to protect myself in the corner of the shower. He hit me so many times I was seeing stars. I finally managed to run out into the hallway and he came after me, hitting me until I collapsed on the floor where he proceeded to kick me twice, once in my head and once in my thigh. He then threw me out into the main hallway and locked me out of the apartment until he left."

The shooting suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Ammar Harris.  Law enforcement issued a warrant out for his arrest on Monday.  His whereabouts remain unknown.
