7 card Stud Hi/Lo runs parallel with 7 card Stud right up until the showdown. The difference that comes here is that the pot is spilt evenly between the player with the highest and lowest hand. A single player can have both the highest and lowest hand in one game.

Each player will be dealt 7 cards throughout the game and must attempt to make the best 5 card poker hand possible.

Firstly each player will a put a small ante on the table followed by two cards face down and one card face up being dealt to them.

The player with the highest ‘up' card must begin the betting with a forced bet know as the ‘bring in'. Play now moves in a clockwise direction with each player having a choice of calling the bet, completing the bet (raising to the lower limit) or folding.

An important aspect of this game when learning to play 7 card Stud Hi / Lo  is that each betting round has a limit of three re-raises.

Now the players are dealt their second up card followed by another round of betting. The third up is dealt to each player followed by another betting round starting the player whose cards make the best hand. (Straight, Flushes of Full Houses do not count).

Each player is now dealt their fourth and final up card which is followed by another round of betting.

At this point the final card is dealt face down. This is followed by the last round of bets and then the showdown. At the showdown each player remaining in the game must try to make their best 5 card poker hand out of the 7 cards they have been dealt. The pot is now split between the players with the highest and lowest poker hand!
