There probably will be some diehard poker fans out there not exactly happy that 2008 World Series of Poker winner Peter Eastgate is auctioning off his WSOP bracelet.  Eastgate won the main event and the several million dollars that came with that piece of jewelry.

“Well, it was just lying around collecting dust," Eastgate said.

What seems to be a complete disregard for the WSOP bracelet is actually not.

A hundred percent of the profits will be going to UNICEF.

"Of course, I am still extremely proud of my title to this day. But the bracelet itself, I am never wearing, since I really don’t wear any jewelry. So I thought that by giving away the bracelet and watches, a lot more people will hopefully be able to benefit from the items."

The bidding starts at $16,000.

Peter Eastgate was born in 1985 and became the youngest player to ever win a World Series of Poker main event bracelet.  He held onto that title for a year until Joe Cada broke the record again in 2009.

Eastgate is one of a number of successful Denmark-born players.  Thanks mostly to the WSOP, he has amassed over $11 million in live poker tournament winnings.

But Eastgate has enjoyed great success since winning the 2008 WSOP main event.  He came in 2nd place at the London Open PokerStars EPT - Season 6, leaving there with $1.3 million and some change.  He has won just under $300,000 during this year in live poker tournaments.
