Authorities swept the Comanche Nation Casino with dogs after a bomb threat was called in Saturday afternoon.
The Comanche Nation Casino was among the properties that received the threats. Red River Casino, the Kiowa Casino in Devol, were also targeted, however, authorities did not find any devices following extensive sweeps.
The Comanche Nation Casino was back open as of Sunday.
A suspect is yet to be located.
The first threat at the Comanche Nation Casino was made Saturday afternoon, forcing a temporary shutdown. The FBI had been assisting local law enforcement.
Jolene Schonchin, tribe information director, revealed the threats were most likely a “ghost call”.
The bomb threats caused an evacuation of the casino, 402 SE Interstate Drive. First responders from Lawton police and fire, the Comanche County Sheriff’s Department and Fort Sill Police secured the gateways and bomb sniffing dogs were sent into the establishment.
In a bizarre twist, at approximately 4 p.m., a westbound vehicle traveling on East Gore Boulevard took out the traffic lights at the intersection of Lawrie Tatum Road where law enforcement maintained a heavy presence to close entry to the casino. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly captured and arrested for driving under the influence.
