The Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, Louisiana will become the new home to two rare albino alligator sisters.
They will become part of the resort’s alligator habitat in its Bayou Atrium.
Neither has a name that has been made public just yet. That could happen upon their arrival.
Locals and visitors to the area will have a chance to welcome the pair at a free public event taking place on July 25 at 4 p.m.
Donna Pierite will lead a special presentation featuring traditional Tunica songs and stories, including the Tribe’s emergence story, which tells of the Blue Alligator and Red Alligator, protectors who played a central role in the Tunica people’s origin and the changing of the seasons.
“Welcoming these rare alligators to Paragon is about more than adding a unique attraction to our Bayou Atrium,” said Marshall Ray Sampson, Sr., General Manager of Paragon Casino Resort. “This ceremony gives us an opportunity to celebrate the alligator’s cultural significance to the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe while inviting our guests and community to experience something truly special.”
Native American tribes consider albino alligators extraordinary beings that are often associated with spirituality, renewal and the importance of respecting the natural world.
