The National Football League this weekend demanded that Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo cancel a Daily Fantasy themed event scheduled to take place in Las Vegas next month, citing a league policy prohibiting players from appearing in casinos.

Romo, who recently joined Twitter, wrote that the league canceled the event. The Dallas quarterback said he was “sad for the fans and players.”

Unlike the first ever Daily Fantasy Sports Expo taking place August 6 and 7 for industry networking, Romo’s event was charging big bucks for families to attend with hopes of meeting big name NFL players.  Many of Romo’s friends were set to take part in the event.

Those friends included the likes of Cowboys teammate Dez Bryant, who took to Twitter to express his displeasure with the NFL.

“Don’t understand whenever they make … money off of us,” he tweeted.

The event was slated to take place at the Venetian Hotel.
