The first ever World Series of Poker Europe winner, Annette Obrestad, is about to turn 21.  For many a youngster, turning 21 means being able to drink legally in bars and finally being able to have consensual sex.  For Obrestad, sex and drinking is just an afterthought.  Turning 21 means finally being able to play in Stateside poker tournaments.

Ms. Obrestad already has her first tournament picked out.  It will be a Bellagio hosted event in December.

"They're also going to have the Poker Player World Championship," she told PocketFives.com.  "I don't know if you heard about it, but it's a new thing that they have - a 30-something person invitational freeroll.  It is going to be televised and there's going to be $1.5 million in the prize pool.  I'm invited to that.  I have no idea why, but it is going to be filmed in Las Vegas."

Other tournaments the young poker wunderkind will likely take part include the EPT Russia, WPT Marakkesh, and EPT Barcelona.  Even more important perhaps is the Caesar's Cup, a concept developed by Betfair, which pits European poker pros like Obrestad against her American counterparts.

"I'm going to be the captain of the European team and Daniel Negreanu (pictured at right) is the captain of the American team.  Both of the teams are going to have six players and now they've announced that Peter Eastgate is going to be my first pick and Phil Ivey is going to be Negreanu's first pick, so that's a good start.  I think it is going to be pretty exciting and one player has a chance to qualify to play on our team through Betfair.  Just imagine how cool that would be for some random dude to get to play against 11 of the best players in the world in that format.  I mean, it is such an opportunity and if you don't take advantage of that or at least try to qualify, then you're a moron."
