Redskins Super Bowl Odds – 2014: Nearly Identical Team as Last Year

The Redskins Super Bowl odds at CarbonSports.ag were coming in at 30/1.

It remains to be seen as to whether Washington can duplicate last year’s success.  The NFC East is certainly up for grabs in 2013-2014.

Like the Eagles, Washington will only play in 6 games where the opponent endured a losing season last year.

Chris Burke of Sports Illustrated notes that this is essentially the same Skins team from last year, with only a few minor tweaks.

Even more so than the Cowboys, the Redskins’ hands were tied this offseason by NFL-mandated cap penalties and few draft picks. So, aside from a few tweaks here and there, this is essentially the same team that won the NFC East at 10-6 last season. For the most part, the Redskins should be fine with that given the turnover they’ve undergone in recent years, doubly so if Robert Griffin III and Brian Orakpo are on the field in Week 1. The Redskins’ expectations will be higher in 2013. Simply repeating their 2012 performance would be impressive.

Unlike last year, the Redskins won’t be playing under the radar.  Likewise, the Giants appear to have improved in some key areas so, in that sense, the NFC East will have a more formidable foe when compared to last season.  Let’s face it, the Skins got very lucky in 2012 with division rivals that went bust.

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
