Where Can I Bet the Oscars Online?

A lot of people are asking the question:  Where can I bet the Oscars online?

The answer is:  Just about anywhere.  Most of Gambling911.com's sponsors are offering betting on the 2009 Oscars here.

For those of your who have been inquiring, Bookmaker.com and Sportingbet.com both began offering Oscar betting odds once again Sunday after having taken the option down.  It was unclear as to why this occurred.

Some online gambling websites are offering more options in terms of the categories that can be bet on.

Sportsinteraction.com offered odds on all the major categories as well as "Best Costume", "Best Musical Score", "Best Animated Film", "Best Foreign Film", "Best Adapted Screenplay", etc..

Now another question many of you are asking:  Is it legal to bet the Oscars online?

That depends on where you live of course.  We don't recommend betting on the Oscars if you live in - say - Saudi Arabia, where last we checked Gambling911.com was blocked as was the Amnesty International website, among others.

As for the United States, it is only a criminal felony to gamble online in the state of Washington.   To those living in Washington State, Gambling911.com does not recommend betting the Oscars online.

Most states apply laws to the actual bet taker, but that's only if they are accepting wagers within the borders of that particular state.  All reputable online gambling websites operate outside of the United States.  For instance, Sportsinteraction.com is based just outside of Quebec, Canada.

Unlike the Super Bowl, you cannot place bets on the Oscars in Las Vegas, even though they do offer odds.

Overseas in locales such as Great Britain, online betting is widely accepted and encouraged.  Many living in the UK will be betting their home grown Oscar entries:  Slumdog Millionaire and Kate Winslet.
