71-year-old Close (yes hard to believe) earns her 7th Oscar nomination for "The Wife". Judging by the odds, she is likely to win.
While she's won three Tonys, an Obie, three Emmys, two Golden Globes and a Screen Actors Guild Award, Close is yet to win an Oscar.
"Everything to do with this movie has been a total joy," Close said in a statement to ABC News.
"Bjorn Runge is a great director! Jonathan Pryce is an inspired partner," the statement continued. "I’m so proud to be in a little film that has such great resonance with so many people. I’m especially proud to have shared the creation of this character with my beloved daughter Annie. So grateful!"
Olivia Colman certainly has some value at 11/2 odds but it's unlikely she's win against the sentimental favorite and someone of Hollywood royalty the likes of Glen Close.
It should be noted that Close is a practical lock but her price is relatively low for an Oscar favorite. One has to bet $50 to win $10 or $100 to win $20 with the bet (stake) amount refunded assuming she is victorious. That's an easy $20!
