Can I Access Draftkings Sports Betting App From My State?
One can access the new DraftKings sports betting app from anywhere within the United States, though actual real money wagering can only take place from within New Jersey's borders. The first week's attempts to even navigate through the free app resulted in an ominous message noting that Draftkings has personal information pertaining to the customer and that he or she could be facing prosecution, presumably for trying to place a wager outside of NJ, though the original message does not exactly imply this.
The message did not bode well with those looking to set up a wagering account prior to visiting New Jersey. They should be permitted to do so, but that warning routinely got in the way. In theory, one should be able to download and access the Draftkings app from any state, but online betting will only be available from licensed international websites for the time being (with a few exceptions).
It should also be noted that the Draftkings sports betting app is only available via iPhone and iPad at this time, not Android.
*A special notice as it regards to PA residents and those living in NYC and Southeastern portions of New York State who may be seeing ads for the app as they are only allowed to place bets while in New Jersey.
