Poker Pro Jason Somerville Out: Still Among Top 20 WSOP Main Event Chip Count (Video)

Jason Somerville is out!  He’s also thriving at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event.

Somerville recently made a public announcement that he was gay, noting that poker icon Daniel Negreanu has offered him advise on how to go about releasing such information that Somerville initially believed could be met with negative feedback.  Instead, much of the response has been overwhelmingly positive. 

Technically, with many considering poker a sport, Somerville is one of the first professional players to come out of the closet. 

PokerListings.com’s Matthew Showell recently interviewed Somerville and had this to offer

We've been fans of Somerville's infectiously positive attitude and poker skills for years so to hear him say he's happier than ever since coming out is amazing. While we can't say we know what he went through, we can admire his courage and the example he's setting.
