There is a new poker film set to premier in theaters September 13 and expectations are high for "Dead Money".

Its star, Emile Hirsch, had this to say in promoting the movie poster:

"Here is the poster.... been a while since there's been a really dope poker movie... Sept 13 wait is over."

Hirsch portrayal of Chris McCandless in Into the Wild (2007) earned him widespread acclaim and multiple nominations.

The film also stars David Keith, India Eisley and Rory Culkin.

The term "dead money" refers to the amount of money in the pot other than the equal amounts bet by active remaining players in that pot. Examples of dead money include money contributed to the pot by players who have folded, a dead blind posted by a player returning to a game after missing blinds, or an odd chip left in the pot from a previous deal.

The synopsis of the film reads: "A stolen bag of money forces a professional poker hustler to play the biggest game of his life to save himself and his girlfriend."

Luc Walpoth is the Director. Walpoth is previously known for directing Replika (2015), One Of Them (2017) and Peripheric Love (2023).
