There was a narrative leading into the season that running backs weren’t a good use of financial resources for NFL teams.
We saw Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Aaron Jones, Tony Pollard and Austin Ekeler find new teams via free agency.
Ekeler (according to ProFootballTalk) even organized a Zoom call among running backs to discuss the cold market for running backs and the issues they face financially that other positions don’t have to deal with.
Fast forward 12 weeks into the season and Barkley and Henry are arguably the two biggest individual stories in the NFL.
