Thomas Alva Edison invented - among other things - the light bulb, the phonograph and the two-way telegraph.  Inventors are brilliant, creative minds...sort of like the folks here at Gambling911.com...who are known to invent a thing or two.

For poker pro Beth Shak, the invention process has been a tedious one but the rewards could prove exhilarating.

The mother of five has been working on a patent for a medical gown she invented, which has slits in the sleeves to accommodate intravenous tubes.

Now you must all be saying to yourselves right about now:  "Why didn't I think of that?"

It's one thing to think about it and yet another thing to deal with the grueling efforts of having your invention come to life.

Ms. Shak disclosed on her blog that the patent has finally been approved:

"I have been working on a patent for close to 3 years and the process is grueling. No one can even imagine what it is like to get a patent approved. It started out with an idea. Then I had  a prototype made. The filing process is so time consuming. The patent examiner will keep trying to find one reason to deny your patent request. After revising my patent and re filing  3-4 times over years. Last night my lawyer called, THANKS KEN, telling me it was finally approved!"

Hopefully that luck will pour onto the poker tables as well.  Shak has already won a few hundred thousand playing in live tournaments, including a $328,683 pay day at the 38th Annual World Series of Poker two years ago.

Congrats to Beth Shak.
