Oddsmakers have reacted to the latest “Tim Tebow distraction” by making the St. Louis Rams a -3.5 point favorite to beat the New York Jets this coming Sunday after this game initially opened up as a PICK’EM.
The Jets backup quarterback responded to an anonymous quote appearing in the New York Daily News this week where a teammate refers to Tebow as “terrible”. He expressed frustration but remained dignified in his statement.
"I've had criticism somewhat my whole life playing football," Tebow told The Daily News. "You got to do your best at handling it. On one side, you try to make it motivate you. But at the same time, it always has somewhat of an effect on you. You're human. It's not always fun having people saying negative things about you, but you try to be stronger from it. It always has made me stronger in the past and it will continue to make me stronger."
For sports bettors seeing the implosion of a Jets team playing on the roads against a hungry Rams squad that held red hot San Francisco to a tie this past Sunday, that -3.5 line is like taking candy from a baby.
Of course, Rams newly appointed head coach Jeff Fisher is no stranger to team distractions as he has witnessed plenty during his long time tenure as the Tennessee Titans head coach.
