The lines aren't too outrageous much of the time and so the risk is often nominal. UFC betting and Mixed Martial Arts betting in general is proving to be quite lucrative for a select group of savvy sports bettors who choose to engage in this form of gambling now offered by most major online sportsbooks

The promise of fast cash is all too real considering that more than 90 percent of favorites in all UFC and MMA events have won over the past year. In fact, only an average of one to two fights are won by underdogs.

The UFC 87 card was no exception and traffic related to Gambling911.com's UFC payout results continues to be record setting.

The only two underdogs to win Saturday evenings card: Jon Jones beat Andre Gusmao as a relatively small underdog paying out 2/1 odds or $200 for every $100 bet. Rob Emerson def. Manny Gamburyan via TKO (strikes) -- Round 1, 0:12. Emerson was a rare big underdog to win, paying nearly $300 for every $100 bet.

Nearly every -400 or better favorite has won their respective UFC/MMA bouts over the past 12 months and, while that may be a lot to lay down ($40 must be wagered for a $10 profit and the $40 is refunded should the bet win), there are plenty of favorites under -300.

"Those betting on the UFC are willing to put down a lot of money knowing the trends are in their favor," expressed Dan Shapiro of Gambling911.com. "It's almost always a win-win for the gambler."

But not necessarily for the online sportsbooks, which are beginning to place limits on this type of betting. Some $250 to $500 maximum amount bets have been observed.

Still, it now makes sense to bet on the favorite.

Upcoming bouts (UFC 88 and UFC 89, respectively) do not feature any favorites greater than -300. Chuck Liddell, who has proven a rare exception to the rule, comes in with odds around -285 at those online sportsbooks offering bets on UFC 88. Michael Bisping is only a -185 favorite in his UFC 89 bout against Chris Leben.
