Sports Interaction betting analyst Frank Doyle shares his thoughts on a huge week for football including a few predictions and betting trends seen thus far.

The first week of NFL is always a huge week for Sports Interaction but this has already been a great week for bettors because of events at the Rose Bowl on Monday night. Not just because it was a great game, but because Rick Neuheisel deserved a break after what happened to him at Washington. For three hours on Monday night, we were all Bruins in this business.

The focus shifts onto the NFL now, rightly enough, and it looks like another great start to the season. The Thursday night opener has been a great success for the league since its introduction and it really sets a tone for the coming season.

We're taking a lot of action at Sports Interaction on the Giants for that opening game, so much so that we've moved the line to Giants -4 against Washington. That seems about right too - it's a big ask for Jim Zorn to take over at Washington without having been an offensive or defensive co-ordinator somewhere first. Danny Synder isn't noted for patience with head coaches so if things go badly, Jim Zorn might soon be feeling the same emotion he would have felt when he was a quarterback with Seattle, if some tough guy like Mean Joe Greene broke through the pocket and smacked him into the turf. Welcome to the big time Jim.

Jacksonville is a popular road favorite at Tennessee this week at Sports Interaction, Jacksonville is a popular pick to make some noise this year, but the Jags' big test will be in Week 3 when they visit Indianapolis. In the meantime, you have to like the teal at Tennessee.

The Cowboys are another hugely popular road pick at Cleveland - we've had to move that line out to -6 on Dallas already, and that's remarkable, really. I'm not entirely sure where that's coming from. As I kid I always liked Cleveland, when the Browns had Bernie Kosar at quarterback. You shouldn't let emotion - least of all sentimentality, the most treacherous of all emotions - color your judgement, but I just get a sneaking feeling for Cleveland in this one. The Browns could get wiped out, of course, but somehow, I think Dallas might get a shock.
