While the vast majority of those playing in this year’s Battle of Malta event are from Europe, U.S. players are missing out on a great event that is likely to feature a million dollar or greater prize pool when all is said and done.  Amateurs and pros are welcome.

Malta is not hard to get to despite the fact that there are no airlines flying direct to this English-speaking Mediterranean island nation.  You can catch a flight for cheap from various European access points.

We here at Gambling911.com selected Milan, Italy as our stopover point and, while it’s possible to hang around in the airport a few hours to make a connection, it is highly suggested to stay in Milan for two days if at all possible.  Keep in mind the international airport is almost an hour away from Milan Central and a taxi will cost you around $100 Euros.  Buses are easily accessible if you are not spoiled divas like us.

Here’s the best part: From Milan direct to New York’s JFK we were able to get a one-way flight for close to $400 on an A380 via Emirates Airways.  This is the largest plane in the world and is fully equipped with WIFI.

Spend another $1000 of your poker winnings from the Battle of Malta and fly in first class complete with a full service bar and chauffer driven limousine to and from the airport.  Fast track it through customs.  Yesssss.

There are a number of cities throughout Europe offering direct flights to and from Malta including Berlin, Amsterdam and London.

Keep in mind that the Battle of Malta event incorporates a party theme during the evenings so there will be plenty of time to explore that aspect of the region.  Mornings you can take in the warm sunshine.
