Covers.com Settles Trademark Dispute With GPCI

Suffern, N.Y. (PRWEB) July 27, 2008 -- General Patent Corporation International (GPCI), a leading patent licensing and enforcement firm, announced today on behalf of its client, Winning Edge International, formerly known as GWIN, that Winning Edge has settled its patent infringement lawsuit against Canadian corporation SportsDirect, Inc. and its subsidiary, Irish corporation Covers Media Group Ltd.

A lawsuit against Sportsdirect, Inc., Covers Media Group Ltd., Vegas Experts.com, Inc., Vegas Insider.com, Preferred Picks Publications and Don Best Sports was filed in August 2006 in the Eastern District of Texas (2:06 CV 318) for the infringement of Winning Edge's U.S. Patent No. 6,260,019 (the Patent). GPCI previously announced settlements with all of the other defendants.

"We are pleased to have reached settlements with the last remaining defendants in this lawsuit," said Paul Lerner, GPCI's Sr. Vice President and General Counsel. He continued, "We look forward to licensing others in the online gaming industry."

Winning Edge owns U.S. Patent No. 6,260,019 titled "Web-Based Prediction Marketplace". The patented technology pertains to the on-line prediction of future events.
