Corfman Confirms CAP Ownership in CardSpike

Jan 6 2009 - 11:53am

One of the most respected online gambling industry analysts, Michael Corfman, has confirmed that individuals behind Casino Affiliate Programs (CAP) and Poker Affiliates Program are involved with running CardSpike.com, an online poker room that is reportedly stiffing a number of its affiliate partners.

Corfman operates CasinoCity.com, the first casino directory on the web.  Casino City Inc. was the first online gambling interest to file a lawsuit against the US Government, claiming its right to exist under the first amendment.

"I was actually told many months ago that the principals at CAP were the beneficial owners of Cardspike," Corfman said in a statement.  "More recently I became aware that Cardspike had such a bad payment record that it should properly be considered a rogue operation.

"Still, I kept quiet and did not say anything. Perhaps I should not have stayed quiet, but there are limits on what level of attack is appropriate against a competitor, especially when that competitor is quick to threaten lawsuits ... a topic for another day.

"But anyway, now that the cat is out of the bag, I can confirm that what I have been told is far worse than anyone might imagine. My understanding is that principals at CAP, which claims to certify programs and represent affiliates, are running a rogue operation and ripping off affiliates on the side. And they have an ownership interest in Affiliate Speed Pay too.

"So you have an organization being paid by affiliate programs to help them establish new affiliate relations that is, behind the scenes, using the affiliates who are referred to them through those programs and through affiliate speed pay to promote Cardspike, which is their own beneficially owned online gaming operation.

"And then you have Cardspike, which is an online gaming operation beneficially operated by US citizens, that accepts US players. Simply unbelievable. What goes around comes around."

Operators can stop BLEEDING money to CAP

Dear Affiliates/Affiliate Programs, For years, Lou Fabiano and Warren Jolly, both principle owners of www.CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com, have used their authority to squeeze out a number of affiliate programs from this industry - some of which were well-deserved, others not so much. Sometimes their decisions were based on purely merit (or lack thereof), but most of the time, the term "Rogue" was loosely awarded to any affiliate program that was unwilling to pay their hefty advertising fees, or should I say, "Certification" fees. As of late, CAP has stooped to an even lower level. By owning, operating, managing, or at the very least, having a financial interest in a so-called "Certified" Casino (www.AbsoluteSlots.com) and "Certified" Poker Room (www.CardSpike.com) threatens the integrity of the affiliate marketing model altogether, Many of you question whether this is true or not??? I have verifiable evidence that Lou Fabiano and Warren Jolly, the principle owners of CAP, have a major stake in both sites, in addition to an interest in Affiliate Speedpay. The proof will soon be published in due time. This is a slap in the face to every affiliate or affiliate program that has supported CAP over the years. CAP is nothing but a glorified harvesting tool to capture priceless affiliate data, which is then used to fuel the operations of other so-called "Certified Programs" that compete directly with the programs and people that support the CAP community. If you think about it, Warren and Lou's "Gestapo" model is quite brilliant - too bad you guys got caught!!! So, if you're an Affiliate, and you feel cheated, the solution is simple - stop supporting CAP. Don't visit their site. Don't post in their forums. Don't accept their Magazine. Don't attend their trade shows. If you're an Affiliate Program, and you feel that your putting money into your competitor's pockets, the solution is simple - stop supporting them altogether. The only way to re-establish integrity in this space is to re-introduce a new player - will it be the GPWA, or will someone else step-in to pick up the pieces.

Serious allegations

This is quite a heavy allegation: "Dear Affiliates/Affiliate Programs, For years, Lou Fabiano and Warren Jolly, both principle owners of www.CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com, have used their authority to squeeze out a number of affiliate programs from this industry - some of which were well-deserved, others not so much. Sometimes their decisions were based on purely merit (or lack thereof), but most of the time, the term "Rogue" was loosely awarded to any affiliate program that was unwilling to pay their hefty advertising fees,, or should I say, "Certification" fees." Is their any corroboration of this? This is criminal extortion, money for threats. Also this: "As of late, CAP has stooped to an even lower level. I have verifiable evidence that Lou Fabiano and Warren Jolly, the principle owners of CAP, have a major stake in both sites." The issue is the "verifiable"; can you verify it? The AbsoluteSlots allegation is also new to me; same question: verification?

The Casino

The casino is not a new issue although many of the casino affilates have not heard. Various poker affiliates have. The casino didnt stop paying, the cardroom did. Effective Media "manages" as they like to put it, both an online poker room and online casino. People only go to these extremes to hide their affiliations when they have done something wrong. Lou and Warren Have sent C&D's Have banned their own members Have banned other respected members in the industry such as Rebecca Deleted threads on their forums. Edited threads on their forums Made a video stating they have no relationship whatsoever with CardSpike Recanted their original video with a new one which says they are only working "performance based" Created threads themselves explianing their side of the story and locking them so that no discussion could take place Seriously, who does this. Whether they owned it or not, the very fact that they were closely tied to the cardroom and a casino should raise questions and going to the extent they have to cover up the situation makes it worse.
