Absolute Poker Threatens Legal Action Against Gambling911.com

Submitted by Alejandro Botticelli on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 00:40.

Gambling911.com, whose founder Christopher Costigan won a landmark case against an online gambling establishment in 2002, disclosed on Wednesday that his website has been threatened with legal action by Absolute Poker.

Speaking on behalf of Absolute Poker, Joann Priam demanded an article be removed from the Gambling911.com website:

"Our legal counsel is requesting that this be pulled by 6:00 PM EST today or they feel it necessary to issue you a formal letter. This type of situation certainly doesn't lend itself to a mutually beneficial and rewarding business partnership moving forward," she crowed.

The article in question reported that the father of an Absolute Poker founder is under sealed indictment in the US.

Ms. Priam also seemed oblivious to the fact that Gambling911.com had tracked down one Allan Grimard and Scott Tom in Los Suenos, Costa Rica, while conducting an undercover investigative report. Grimard is alleged to have been involved in a massive "insider cheating scandal" at Absolute Poker. He has apparently used that money to purchase a brand new yacht, SUV and is in the process of building a mansion along with Absolute co-founder Scott Tom. Grimard and Tom were both observed laughing about the Absolute Poker scandal.

"On a separate note, but in a similar vein, the listed "facts" in the article mentioning AJ Green are not factual either - however, it is the cross reference to the previous article that seems more relevant," Priam stated, in an obvious attempt to cover up their tracks.

The CBS news magazine, 60 Minutes, has been following developments in this matter.

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission oversees Absolute Poker. It was unclear if they would be party to any legal battle that might ensue.

Please let me know...

Please let me know if Absolute Poker tries to sue ANYONE. I would LOVE to testify against them and serve them with a lawsuit of my own... Beautiful. Furthermore, I'm holding in my hot little hands right this very moment, a document written to me and dated August 20th, 2008 from the Better Business Bureau (signed by a Senior Complaints Officer) stating that absolutepoker.com has an UNSATISFACTORY BUSINESS rating. Furthermore, the gaming commission is a complete hoax. They ignore you should you ever try to contact them for any reason. snowfreeze3 yahoo Thanks. :)

facts

Are there any facts to back up the story other than rumors? Deed, title, etc...

G911 Can do what they want

Doesn't Absolute Poker understand that G911 is a media outlet and they can write whatever they want. Go turn on CNN and look who is getting bad press. Jesus! And also, I'd like to see a poker company try to sue a company in the US. That is just retarded!

How does one move on?

After a scandal like that, It for sure ruins and scars the gambling community. http://www.aksplace.com Your Number 1 Source for Online Gaming News

Absolute Poker Lawsuit

Absolute should spend money chasing down the scammer AJ and bringing him to justice instead of going after the messenger on the news that AJ is living high on the hog down in Jaco. AJ and Scott Tom are living like Puff Daddy and Biggie Smalls on stolen player money after creating the biggest scam in the online gambling industry at a time when the industry needed more legitimacy. Shame on Absolute Poker!

Playing at UB / Absolute = supportint cheats?

This is absolutely spot on. Spending money on killing the messenger really tells that their priorities are. Screw the players and protect the masterminds. Please do not play UB or Absolute Poker if you wish to condemn outrageous cheating.

If anyone thinks that AJ was

If anyone thinks that AJ was the only one involved in this they should have their head examined. AP and their execs have been doing this for a long profitable time.
