The New England Patriots 2011 Super Bowl odds came in at 9/1 or +900 at SBG Global, a far change from the usual 3/1 we would see year after year pre-2010.  This once terrifying Patriots team seems to have lost its dynasty status in the last two years, but make no mistake about it, they are still very much contenders.

What Gambling911.com Likes About The New England Patriots

*Obviously we love the fact that the Patriots come into this season as 9/1 long shots (all things considered) to win the 2011 Super Bowl.  The payout:  $900 for every $100 bet.

*Tom Brady is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league bar none.  The only thing holding him back is injury and he comes into this season relatively healthy and a year beyond that reconstructed knee.

*Offensive linesmen allowed a franchise-low (for 16 games) 18 sacks last year.

*Zoltan Mesko is expected to help improve the Patriots punting game while Stephen Gostkowski is one of the best in the NFL when it comes to field goal accuracy and long kickoffs.

*Bill Belichick is still the head coach and one of the best in the league.

What Gambling911.com Does Not Like About The New England Patriots

*The New England Patriots 2011 Super Bowl odds are long because there are a lot of question marks as to who will be doing what on the coaching staff and there hasn’t been a whole lot of improvement in personnel when compared to division rivals the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.  There was no named defensive or offensive coordinators, and this could prove detrimental

*The linebackers simply are not as good going into this season as they were a few years back and the receivers are iffy as well.

*Fanhouse pointed out this week that, if the Patriots can't find more ways to get to opposing quarterbacks, though -- their 31 sacks tied for 23rd-best in the league in 2009 -- it may be another long year for the secondary.

Xavier Worthy = Tyreek Hill 2.0?  Perhaps, and if that comes to fruition at any point in the future, the Bills only have themselves to blame.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
