“Argo” is a dramatization of and is based on a 2007 article about the "Canadian Caper" in which Tony Mendez, a CIA operative, led the rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran, during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

It has become a pretty significant favorite to win Best Picture in recent days even though “Lincoln” had initially been the EVEN odds favorite when the nominations were first announced. You will now have to pay $90 to win $10 (with the $90 refunded should “Argo” win Best Picture).

Better “Argo” odds can still be had with Best Adapted Screenplay only requiring $11.50 down to win $10.

“Argo” would pay $160 for every $10 bet should the film win for Best Musical Score.  “Life of Pi” is a slight favourite in this category while “Lincoln” would pay out a little better than EVEN odds.

“Argo” is a favourite in the Best Editing category with -350 odds.

Alan Arkin is a huge long shot at 30/1 to win for Best Supporting Actor.

Note that “Argo” Director Ben Afleck was snubbed at this year’s Oscars.
