PokerStars Appoints Gabi Campos As New CEO

eGaming Review is reporting that former 888.com Dragonfish head of operations, Gabi Campos, has been appointed CEO of the world’s largest online poker company, PokerStars.com.

Campos will start in his new role on October 4th, according to eGaming Review, but has already started in a non-operational consultant role effective this week.  He will work from the company’s Costa Rican office.

PokerStars founder Isai Scheinberg will continue as chief technical officer, while son Mark Scheinberg will assume the position of chairman.

Mark Scheinberg told employees via an internal memo obtained by eGaming Review: “Both Isai and myself will continue to be closely involved in the  company's strategic direction and building on the success we have all  achieved together as a team over the last 10 years.

“We are excited about this new chapter in the PokerStars story, and look forward to Gabi's leadership in taking the company forward to continued success.”

While 888.com’s profits continue to drastically decline, the Dragon Fish arm was its best performer.

Dragonfish last Thursday announced the appointment of former Virzt chief commercial officer David Zerah as Campos’ replacement as managing director of 888's B2B arm.
