The Dawg Pound Daily offered up three bold predictions ahead of the new season.
Garrett and Vernon each will have 10-plus sacks - Former New York edge rusher, Olivier Vernon, will move to the left side as Garrett mans the right — the position Vernon has played throughout his career.
That could end up being a good thing since teams typically have their more agile tackles on the opposite side of where Vernon will line up. His speed off the snap and his athleticism could give those offensive linemen trouble, which could lead to a big season for the Pro Bowl player.
Our first prediction is that he will have his best season since his Miami Dolphins day as he racks up at least 10 sacks.
Baker Mayfield breaks the team record for passing yards - Despite not starting the first 3 weeks, Mayfield was able to throw for 3,725 yards as a rookie. He even did this while dealing with turmoil in the form of Hue Jackson being his head coach which led to a coaching change in midseason.
Browns end the NFL’s longest playoff drought - They haven’t made it into the playoffs since 2002. Now armed with talent on both sides of the ball, Cleveland is poised to finally break that streak — which is what this final prediction says they will do. What remains to be seen is whether it will be as a wild card team or champions of the AFC North.
