Spotlight Golfer (Dustin Johnson) - Pays $110 on a $10 Bet

In February 2017 Johnson became the world number 1-ranked golfer and remained there for 64 consecutive weeks, the 5th longest run as number 1. He returned to the number 1 position in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and has been at number 1 for a total of over 100 weeks.

His most recent win on February 7, the Saudi International for the second time.  It was his 9th victory on the European Tour.

The American managed only three birdies, offset by a bogey on the 16th hole, to sign for a two-under-par 68 and finish at 15-under, two shots ahead of his compatriot Tony Finau and Englishman Justin Rose who tied for second place.

“Conditions when we started were really tough,” Johnson, the 2020 Masters champion who pays $110 on a $10 bet to win the Players Championship, said. “I knew I was hitting it well, I saw the leaderboard and I knew the guys were playing well.

“I kept giving myself chances, I didn’t hole any of them but I hit good shots and I finally holed a really nice putt on 13 and from there on I played solid.

“After Augusta to get my first win, the game’s still in really good form and I’m looking forward to the rest of the year.”

Most books list Johnson at 11/1 and is the favorite to win just about everywhere.  He is two points ahead of Rory McIlroy, the reigning champion.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
