(Reuters) - William Hill (WMH.L) is to open talks with Playtech (PTEC.L) this month to try to salvage the companies' joint online venture following a breakdown in relations last year, the Financial Times reported on Monday.

USA Today: Nevada Gearing Up for Court Fight Over Gambling Tax Hike

USA Today reported on Monday that a petition drive to raise taxes on Nevada’s biggest casinos has been met with strong opposition by the gaming lobby via a lawsuit filed in Carson District Court.

‘All-In – The Poker Movie’, a documentary about the game of poker and its rise in popularity, is set to debut in theatres March 23 (2012) with an iTunes release date set for April 24, though we trust that many Gambling911.com readers won’t be waiting around for the iTunes release.

Phil Galfond Wins $767,701 This Weekend

Poker pro Phil Galfond was this past weekend’s biggest winner, banking $767,701 in profit spread across 118 sessions

Another of this past weekend’s big winners included Viktor Blom, taking in $254,580.

The biggest losers, as observed by PokerNews.com, were “MaiseE’s”, who managed to drop $468,567, Davin “mTw-DaviN” Georgi, who lost $460,348 and Jens “Jeans89” Kyllönen, who lost $339,779.

Moon Kim Enjoys 2012 WPT Bay 101 Win

Poker player Moon Kim is the winner of the 2012 WPT Bay 101 event and takes home $960,000 after battling it out with Ubaid Habid, who finished 2nd and leaves with $570,220.

Lotteries and Gaming Authority of Malta Cites Irregularities with Everleaf Poker Network

The Lotteries and Gaming Authority of Malta (LGA) has finally broken its silence regarding the Everleaf Gaming poker network, and it’s not good.  The regulatory body has discovered irregularities with the firm following its delayed payouts to customers and abrupt exit from the US market early last month. 

Sanctions were issued against Everleaf by the LGA.

An investigation yielded “a number of irregularities in their operation” resulting in the network “being monitored closely to ensure its operation respects Maltese law.”

WPT Bay 101 Final Table 2012: Erik Cajelais Leads, Jonathan Duhamel Falls Short (Video)

Canadian poker pro Erik Cajelais was leading the way at the WPT Bay 101 Final Table 2012 while fellow Canadian pro and 2012 World Series of Poker champ Jonathan Duhamel just missed making the final cut in 13th place.  He takes home $25,620, adding to his 2012 first quarter hot streak.

Documentary Chronicles Rise of Poker

A documentary about poker that was made three years ago will finally see the theatrical light of day later this month.

The film, titled "All In: The Poker Movie," chronicles the rise of poker's popularity and includes interviews not only with professional poker players but also with political and social commentators who weigh in on the larger meaning of poker.

The movie, produced and directed by documentary film maker Douglas Tirola of 4th Row Films, was shown once at a film festival in Las Vegas in 2009, but that was the extent of its public screenings.

Bwin.Party Formally Applies for Nevada Internet Poker License

Bwin.Party, the world’s largest real money gambling firm, has officially filed for a Nevada state Internet poker license.

Nevada looks to allow intrastate online poker in the coming months following passage of legislation late last year.  Nevada could incorporate multi-state pacts in the future as well.  Ultimately, the state was looking to become a hub for online poker companies following the passage of a federal law, however, many experts now believe the industry will develop exclusively at the local state level.

Arizona Senator Jon Kyl Removes Internet Gambling Statement From Site

Arizona Republican Senator Jon Kyl, who has been rumored to be in talks regarding amending the current Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA), a prohibition bill he co-authored in 2006, has removed a statement on his own website suggesting a change of stance regarding Internet gambling.

2012 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Day 1B Results

2012 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Day 1B results had Christ Summer leading in the chip count after Day 1B while combined results had Bryce Yockey as the two day chip leader.

Among the more recognizable names within the top 10 were Michael Mizrachi with 129,900 chips.  He sat in 6th place.

JC Tran was also among the top 10 chip leaders.

Playtech Enters Into Online Gambling Agreement With Mexico’s Caliente

Online gambling software firm Playtech has entered into an agreement with Mexico’s land-based casino and sportsbook operator, Caliente, to provide the company with online gambling software.

Caliente is looking to provide a suite of casino games created by Playtech.

“We are delighted to have secured this agreement with one of Latin America's largest and most respected gaming operators with whom, over time, we expect to develop a valuable relationship,” said Mor Weizer, Chief Executive Officer for Playtech.

NJ Sen. Jim Whelan: ‘I Feel Like I Am Being Blackmailed (By Horse Racing Association)’

A measure to legalized online gambling in New Jersey has moved one step closer to reality with a 3-0 passage in the state senate.  Horse racing groups have threatened a derailment of the bill after an earlier funding commitment was removed however.

Racing industry lobbyist Barbara DeMarco has hinted at possible legal action, telling the Daily Record:  “Undoubtedly the racing industry will push to have a constitutional amendment.”
