Union Rags Wins the 2012 Belmont Stakes

Union Rags has won the 2012 Belmont Stakes with 5/2 odds.

Paynter finished 2nd and Atigun finished 3rd.  Paynter led throughout this race right up until the final seconds.  A great race for him.

Las Vegas oddsmakers were expecting 25 percent of the action that would have been wagered had I’ll Have Another not been scratched from this race Friday.  I’ll Have Another was aiming for the first Triple Crown in more than 35 years. 

$3 million was bet on Dullahan while $2.8 million was wagered on Union Rags coming into the 2012 Belmont Stakes.
