Pittsburgh Steelers

Two of the best games of the late afternoon both offer some excellent middling opportunities for online sports bettors.  We already discussed the possibility for the Broncos vs. Jets game.  Now let's look at the Steelers vs. Patriots middling opportunity.

New England was a -1 ½ favorite at Sportsinteraction.com while the Pittsburgh Steelers were listed with a line of +2 1/2 Bookmaker.com.  Bet the Pats at Sports Interaction and the Steelers at Bookmaker.com and hope that New England wins by 2 points so that both your bets are winners.  The risk is nominal.

New England is 7-3 in this series but are 5-1 over the last six against Pittsburgh.

The Steelers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games following a SU win of more than 14 points.  The Patriots are also 1-7 ATS in their last 8 following an ATS win.

Despite some initial problems, New England quarterback Matt Cassel has settled in at the helm of New England's explosive offense, completing 30 passes in each of the last two games while becoming the fifth quarterback in NFL history to throw for 400 yards in back-to-back games.

"I think that it is obvious that they have a lot of confidence with what this young man is doing for them," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. "... I think that his numbers speak for themselves; he has a 90-plus passer rating. He is showing that he is a player in this league at that position."

Playing what Randy Moss called "hellified ball," Cassel has also thrown for three touchdowns in each of the last two games, hitting Moss on all three in the Patriots' 48-28 win at Miami on Sunday. Mostly against single coverage, Moss had a season-high 125 receiving yards.

"I'm always amazed at what Randy can do," Cassel said.

The Steelers are 7-1 against the AFC this season.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has completed five touchdowns and no interceptions for a passer rating of 100.2 in three regular-season games against the Patriots.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
