US Elections

If the Washington Redskins win their Monday Night Football Game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Republicans will stay in office at least another four years with a win by John McCain.  If they lose, Obama is the next President of the United States.

"The game opened with the Redskins as 2.5-point favorites, but public action has forced oddsmakers to shift the spread," BetUS.com analysts point out.  "One thing for handicappers to consider with the Presidential election on the horizon is Washington's history on the gridiron. The Redskins have predicted the outcome in 12 straight Presidential votes based on their last game before the vote, with the party in power staying in the White House if Washington wins. This means that if the Redskins get by the Steelers on Monday night, then John McCain could very well be on his way to an upset in the Electoral College on Tuesday."

For John McCain, the spread seems to be around 7 points, that's how much Obama is leading him nationally in a number of polls.

But unlike McCain, the Redskins are the favorites in Monday Night's showdown.

"Washington has rolled along to one of the NFL's top records SU and against the number because of its efficient offense, which will be put to the test against Pittsburgh. The Steelers lead the league in defense at 236.0 yards against per game, and are third against the run at a stifling 71.6 yards against on the ground."

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
