Because Rashad Evans and Matt Hamill were both worthy underdogs with handsome payouts of just over $200 for every $100 bet, UFC 88 proved a worthwhile betting event.

Evans in fact was the biggest bet of Saturday night following the College football frenzy. He also had more money on him than the most bet on NFL team - the New York Jets - heading into Sunday.

Rashad Evans was taking on favored Chuck Liddell, who gamblers believe is unpredictable and easy to beat.

Matt Hamill was the 4th biggest bet at Bookmaker.com Saturday night. Only Evans, The New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys were getting more action at this time.

Hamill takes on favored Rich Franklin. He was a three-time NCAA Division III National Champion in wrestling (167 lb. class in 1997, 190 lb. class in 1998, and 197 lb. class in 1999) while attending the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York Matt also has a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling and a gold medal in freestyle wrestling from the 2001 Summer Deaflympics. He has 4 wins and 1 loss. Three of those wins were by knockout. It was indeed interesting that Hamill was getting so much action.

It was not immediately known how much money was placed on the other fights.
