Odds to win the MLB World Series

The Major League Baseball season is in the home stretch part of the season with each team having just under 40 games left to play. The Boston Red Sox have been the story of the year with an unbelievable 88 and 38 record which puts them 50 games above .500 which means they have a legitimate chance to break the all-time MLB season win record which is 116 wins shared by the 1906 Chicago Cubs and the 2001 Seattle Mariners.

As a result of the Red Sox outstanding season up to this point, they are the current odds-on favorite to win the MLB World Series at +275. However, there is still plenty of baseball to be played including the always unpredictable playoffs starting in October.

The next odds-on favorite is the defending World Series Champion Houston Astros, who are tied for first place with the Oakland A’s in the AL West with 75 wins. The Astros odds to win the MLB World Series is currently at +500 and they should prove to be just as dangerous in the playoffs as they were last season.

The next team up with the best odds to win the MLB World Series is the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs have pretty much the same team and roster as when they won the World Series in 2016, and they currently have the best record in the National League with 71 wins which is 2 wins better than the Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks. The Cubs are currently at +600 to win the MLB World Series.

The fourth best odds to win the MLB World Series is +1000 and is shared by three teams, which are the New York Yankees, L.A. Dodgers, and Oakland A’s. The Yankees actually have the second best record in the Major Leagues with 78 wins, but unfortunately for them, they appear to be locked in at one of the wild-card spots because they are 9 games behind the Red Sox. The Yankees have an ever-dangerous lineup and are always a threat to upend their longtime rivals in the Boston Red Sox.

The Dodgers started the year very slowly, then had a nice winning stretch in the middle of the year, but have recently lost their stride winning only 3 out of their last 10 games. The Dodgers lost in the World Series last year, but even though they have a lot of the same players, their Ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw has not been his usual self this season and has been struggling with injuries on and off this year. The Dodgers are currently in 3rd place in the NL West sitting 2.5 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks, and they are going to need to have a very good last stretch of the season if they want to even make the playoffs.

Lastly, the Oakland A’s have been one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last 55 games, with an incredible 41 and 14 record over that span. They are a young team, but there is always a hot team that makes noise in the playoffs, and if the A’s can keep it up they look to be just the type of dark horse team that can pull off some upsets.

These MLB World Series odds will continue to be updated after each day, and it will be exciting to see which team can actually win it all.
