It's hard to imagine but the New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks was the most bet on NFL game heading into Sunday, this despite how lopsided a matchup this appears to be - at least on paper and in terms of the betting odds.

New England was a -6 ½ favorite at BetUS.com while Seattle was a +7 ½ underdog at betED.com.  A win by New England by 6 points would result in both sides winning for gamblers who middle this game.

From Scouts.com: "This is a critical game for the Patriots if they want to stay on the heels of the Jets in the AFC East. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are just trying to find a way to win a game, but this one could get ugly for the home team. Expect Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels to incorporate a lot of multiple formational designs that create mismatches against a Seahawks secondary that is currently ranked 32nd in the NFL. The question for New England is how QB Matt Cassel will respond after his poor performance last week. And will Seattle defensive coordinator John Marshall find a way to slow down this offense?"

New England beat Seattle by 10 points the last time these two teams met in 2004 but there was an 11 year gap between that and the last game they played.  There is very little recent past history between the Patriots and Seahawks, yet the gamblers are all over New England.  Go figure.
