The 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships are set to begin this week on June 28 and will run through July 7. Hamburg, Germany will be the host city for this prestigious event, and Am Rothenbaum Stadium will be where all of the action takes place. There are 48 men’s and women’s teams that have qualified for this event, and they will be competing for more than just prize money. The winning team on each side of this tournament will qualify for the 2020 Olympics, which is always one of the best events on the world’s biggest stage. The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships is one of the biggest and best tournaments, and most people see it is a Summer Olympics Preview. This event is held every two years, and teams spend the time in between playing in qualifying tournaments to punch their tickets to this great tournament. Odds for this tournament will be released soon, and there is an opportunity to bet on each matchup as well as a futures bet on who will be crowned champion in each gender. Let’s take a look at both the men’s and women’s field and point out some possible teams to keep an eye on this week.

Men’s Preview:

The top 23 teams from the FIVB World Ranking are all going to be taking part of this event on the Men’s side, and the field appears to be wide open. The Norwegian team of Anders Mol and Christian Sorum are the top ranked team in the world, and they have to be considered the favorite heading into this event. They did not factor in the 2017 results, but they are strong contenders this season. The Austrian team of Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst finished second two years ago, and come into this tournament as the 17th ranked team in the world. Oleg Stoyanovskiy and Viacheslav Krasilnikov are the second ranked team in the world, and Krasilnikov was a part of the bronze medal team at this event in 2017. The top United States team of Jake Gibb and Taylor Crabb are ranked 8th in the world heading into this tournament, and should factor onto the podium as well. This is probably the most wide open this field has been in quite some time, and it should make for some great competition.

The Pick:

Even though Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst have been struggling this season, their experience at this event should take them far. They finished second two years ago, but are going to win the title this year. Bet on the Austrian team to win the 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships.

Women’s Preview:

The women’s side of this field appears to be as wide open as the men’s side, but there are three Brazilian teams in the top six of the world rankings. Barbora Hermannová and Markéta Sluková out of the Czech Republic are the top ranked team in the world heading into this event, but they don’t have a ton of experience playing together. It’s hard to predict how they are going to do on the world’s biggest stage. Ágatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda Santos Lisboa are the top ranked Brazilian team, and are number 3 in the world entering this event, but there are other teams from Brazil right behind them. None of the three teams that were on the podium in 2017 are considered to be real contenders this time around, and that should make the tournament even more exciting. Someone is going to breakthrough and win their first ever World Championship and punch their ticket to the Olympics.

The Pick:

It’s hard to predict which team from Brazil is going to play better at this tournament, but it’s pretty safe to pick that country to win the title. It’s really up to you to get a feel for a team and pick whichever Brazilian team you feel more comfortable with. Brazil is known for their beach volleyball, and their country will win this event.  If you are looking for a pay per head bookie location to place a bet on this event, head to RealBookies.com
