2014 Kentucky Derby Post Position One to Remain Vacant: 1-10 Changes

Pablo Del Monte, the replacement for the withdrawn Hoppertunity, has also been scratched. The No. 1 post will remain vacant while every horse slotted from No. 1-10 moves down a spot as a result.  Bet online at SportsBettingOnline.com and receive up to 10 percent back on your losses weekly or get a 50 percent cash bonus up to $500.  Wager from your smartphone.

While the number one post position has yielded a decent number of winners since the start of the Kentucky Derby, trainer Bob Baffert suggested most of those were pre-1920’s.

Actually, that’s a bit of a myth.  Since 1930, there have actually been 8 winners from this post position and of the last 12 horses to race here, only one has finished worse than his posted odds based on the entire field.

With the changes in post position, Wildcat Red we suppose gets a raw deal.  He’ll move from the coveted number 10 spot, which has yielded the most winners since 1930 (9), to the number 11 spot, which has yielded among the fewest (2).
