Earlier in the week Gambling911.com had provided its readers with a 2012 Kentucky Derby weather report suggesting it would be hot and mainly dry, albeit humid.  As we get closer to race time, it is looking more and more likely that scattered showers and thunderstorms will be popping up around Churchill Downs, leading to a 50 percent chance of rain in Louisville.

Gambling911.com suggests it is safe to place early bets on both Union Rags and Bodemeister as both are proven mud horses.

Gemologist, another of the solid Kentucky Derby contenders, breezed four furlongs in 50.39 over a muddy track at the Palm Meadows Training Center in Florida.   We definitely suggest placing your bets on Gemologist early since the value here is superior on this undefeated Derby contender at 6/1

El Padrino and Went The Day Well are also proven mud horses.

The two Gambling911.com says to steer clear of in the event of rain are Optimizer and I’ll Have Another.  Both are suspect when it comes to taking on the sloppy track.

Dullahan may also have a disadvantage on the mud since his best races have come on synthetic and turf surfaces.

If you were planning on betting either of these three, Gambling911.com is suggesting to hold off until Saturday afternoon.  We do advise opening your online racebook account as early as possible to avoid processing delays due to the crunch time that will occur throughout Saturday.  BetDSI.com, in business since 1997, was offering 8 percent back on losses for all races including the Triple Crown.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
