The 2009 Players Championship odds to win have been updated with Tiger Woods now a +250 favorite, shortened from over 3/1 odds earlier in the week.  Phil Mickelson came in with +1000 odds for a payout potential of $1000 on every $100 bet.  Sean OHair had the next best odds, paying $3000 for every $100 bet

Woods, who would traditionally be listed early as a near even odds favorite, has come under fire for his "lack of power" in recent tournaments, specifically last week's Quail Hollow.

"He is not the same Tiger Woods (post surgery)," proclaimed the Canadian Press this week:

By measuring drives on the 56 holes that were not par 3s, Mickelson's average tee shot was nearly 14 yards longer than Woods'. Statistics can be misleading, especially over the first two rounds because they played on opposite ends of the draw. But in the third round, when they were separated by one group, Mickelson was longer off the tee on 11 of the 14 driving holes. Lefty's average drive was 317.6 yards, Woods was at 300.5 yards.

Woods has an answer for his sudden loss of length.

"I've been away from the game for a long time," he said Tuesday, referring to his eight-month layoff after the U.S. Open. "And it's going to take a little bit of time before my body gets back to where I can hit the ball the same distances. I don't hit the ball the same distance with my irons or my driver."

For anyone anticipating a Tiger Woods comeback in this weekend's Players Championship, the value is certainly there for gamblers at online sites lik SBG Global.

"He'll still get the most betting action," proclaimed Don Shapiro, Head Sports Columnist for the Gambling911.com website.  "Just look at how far behind the other guys are in the odds."

Only Tiger Woods had single digit odds.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
