With the 2008 Breeders' Cup Classic just moments away, there is still time to bet on this event.

"It's been brisk throughout the day," said Payton O'Brien, Gambling911.com Senior Editor, who has been monitoring 2008 Breeders' Cup betting action for a number of days. "Nothing like the Kentucky Derby but when all is said and done we could have a bigger betting event than the Belmont Stakes."

Breeders' Cup events have been taking place all day Friday and Saturday but it's the 2008 Breeders' Cup Classic that will be getting much of the action. Most of the focus has been on Curlin, a +150 favorite paying out $150 for every $100 bet at betED.com

The $5 million question: Will Curlin be as impressive on a synthetic track as he is on dirt?

Curlin (foaled March 25, 2004 in Kentucky) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the current highest North American money earner with over US$10 million in stakes won. His major racing wins include the 2007 Preakness Stakes, the 2007 Breeders' Cup Classic, and the 2008 Dubai World Cup.

Curlin was sired by Smart Strike, a former star from the Sam-Son Farm racing team in Ontario, Canada and is a half-brother of 1991 Canadian Triple Crown winner, Dance Smartly. He is out of the mare Sherriff's Deputy, a daughter of Canadian Horse of the Year and two-time North American Champion sire, Deputy Minister.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
