Megatron Finally Healthy
The Lions will have a healthy Calvin Johnson on Sunday. Johnson said that he is stronger and ready to have a big year. What is sometimes forgotten is that Johnson is just 29 years old. He has a great rapport with quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Lions have another receiving threat in Golden Tate so defenses can’t just double team Johnson on every play. Detroit was below average last season on offense but part of the problem was that Johnson was not healthy for the entire season.
Newcomers Boost San Diego Offense
San Diego has a number of new players on offense including first-round pick Melvin Gordon and wide receiver Stevie Johnson. Both players should help quarterback Philip Rivers this season. Rivers is just two TD passes away from tying Dan Fouts’ record of 254 career touchdown passes. San Diego will be without tight end Antonio Gates for the opener but they still have a good tight end in Ladarius Green.
