British bookmaker Coral has suspended wagering on whether Prince William and his wife Kate are about to announce the arrival of a second royal sibling for one-year-old Prince George.

Coral halted all bets last week ahead of George’s first birthday.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Suspending betting on William and Kate announcing baby No.2 has caused a betting frenzy, with punters racing to place bets on the gender and baby name,” said a Coral spokeswoman.

The reason for the freeze on wagering?

Coral cited an overnight pattern of suspicious betting activity that led them to believe those with “inside” knowledge might have gained an unfair advantage on the bookmaker.

Since the cessation in bets, no confirmation has been given as to whether the royal couple will indeed announce another child is on the way though rumors continue to ride rampant.

Prior to the arrival of Prince George, British bookmakers had taken in millions of dollars worth of bets on the royal birth on everything from the baby's given name to the color of his clothing in the first official photograph taken upon leaving the hospital.
