‘Rough Sex’ Politician Indicted for Using Campaign Funds to Gamble

A Louisiana Parish President indicted last year on a sexual battery charge has now been indicted by a Baton Rouge grand jury on 6 counts of using campaign funds to support his gambling habit.

The state says St. Bernard Parish President David Peralta gambled away the money at nearby casinos Harrahs, Hollywood Casino, the Silver Slipper and the Grand Casino Biloxi.

Peralta’s attorney says they filed their own lawsuit against the attorney generals office because they believe the state is using bogus testimony to indict him.

It was only last year that Peralta had been charged with sexual battery on his wife, for which he contended the couple were just having “rough sex” for her 49th birthday.  Those charges were later dismissed.

Peralta’s attorney, Martin Regan, say they will be in East Baton Rouge district court Thursday morning and will ask for an arraignment so a trial date can be set.
