MIAMI, FL -- (March 12, 2010) - UB.com is introducing "Second Sundays," a new series of UB.com charitable online events benefiting national charities. The series will be the first of its kind, with regularly scheduled events, beginning on Sunday, March 14th, and continuing every second Sunday of each month. The cost to play and compete for cash prizes, UB swag, entries to popular UB.com events, and exciting Rockwell Time and Monster JAMZ products is $10.
Annie Duke, the brainchild behind UB.com's Second Sundays, stated, "We're struggling with a difficult economy. Charitable organizations have recently experienced a drastic decline in donations. Most people, though sympathetic to charitable causes, have simply cut back."
The Second Sundays $10 buy-in launch event is scheduled for this Sunday, March 14th at 13:00 ET, with proceeds to be donated directly to The San Antonio Aids Foundation ("SAAF"), which is committed to providing medical care and social services for those with HIV/AIDS, as well as education and testing to prevent the spread of HIV. The SAAF aims to treat HIV and AIDS sufferers with dignity and comfort, and without discrimination.
Notably excited about the fall fundraiser program, Duke believes UB.com has developed a simple solution. "This is not about individuals each making large donations. It's about a large number of people collectively donating small amounts of money in order to make a difference.
"UB is a global community. Its members have been very generous and supportive of charitable efforts in the past. This grassroots movement could mobilize more people to join our community in order to effectively make a difference."
The fall line up of UB.com beneficiaries includes the inaugural tournament's recipient, the San Antonio Aids Foundation, plus Road 2 Recovery, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai medical center.
Each month, "Second Sundays" will highlight various national charities, raise awareness around their causes, address organizations and their issues, and provide UB.com members, participants, and interested readers with news and testimonials by those affected. "Second Sundays" results and highlights will be posted regularly on UB.com.
