Something to Peru-oove: 213 Poker Players Taking Part in LSOP

Welcome to the 2012 Latin Series of Poker Lima Main Event! The quest for the first LSOP trophy has just begun at the stunning Casino Atlantic City in Lima, Peru.  Crazy Julius is covering this event for us here at Gambling911.com.

On Wednesday, right after the exclusive welcome party, a Super Satellite for today’s Latin Series of Poker Main Event was held locally. A total of 213 poker players registered, and 84 players making it to the first 15-minute break to battle for one of the $1650 seats to the main event.

The Latin Series of Poker runs from June 7th through 10th at Casino Atlantic City in Lima, Peru, and features a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000.  The tournament starts players off with 15,000 chips, and it includes 30 minutes levels with 15-minute breaks every two hours.

Recognizable players from the Latin American poker community included:

Ivan Marquez

Karlo "Mago" Lopez – Finished 33rd at the 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event where he pocketed $274,090.  Lopez enjoyed a 4th place finish at the 40th World Series of Poker 2009 - Event #47 - WSOP No Limit Hold'em Mixed Hold'em - Limit / No Limit.  He has 28 cashes and 1 first place finish with close to $800,000 in live circuit winnings to date.

Erick Cabrera – Finished 3rd at the Lima (Peru) LAPT/Season 3 - LAPT Main Event - No Limit Hold'em.

Ivan Freitez – This Venezuelan player should prove to be a force at the inaugural LSOP, having amassed over $2.3 million in live winnings on the poker circuit including 15 cashes and 2 first place finishes.  Most of that money was won last month at the  PokerStars.com EPT Madrid - Season 7 -  EPT Main Event - No Limit Hold'em.
