Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Entries Exceed Guarantee

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - The televised WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship, which kicked off April 10 and continues through April 16 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, has drawn 1,795 entries, surpassing the $5 million guarantee and generating a $5,788,875 prize pool – the largest ever for a $3,500 buy-in tournament.  First place will award $1,081,184 plus the coveted WPT Championship trophy.  The televised Championship Final Table will take place at Hard Rock Live on Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m.

“The guarantee is awesome,” said professional poker player Phil Laak. “When you’re at a reputable place like the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, you know it (the guarantee) is going to be met. And, it doesn’t hurt that you’re experiencing a first-class resort with all of the trimmings in the process.”

Given the success of the annual Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown series, as well as surpassing the $5 million Guaranteed Championship prize pool, the property has announced the return of the second annual Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $10 million Guaranteed Championship. The series will run from August 7-27, with the $5,300 buy-in for the Championship slated for August 21-27.

“We continue to grow the Seminole Hard Rock Poker program and extend to the poker community offerings that are attractive and lucrative.  While our April Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship will create a new millionaire, our August Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open will add two more millionaires to the poker record books,” said Ray Stefanelli, director of poker marketing for Seminole Gaming.
