Only 259 entered the 2009 Foxwoods Poker Classic on the World Poker Tour, compared to 346 players last year. Many well-known poker stars are unhappy with the tournament.

"The tournament sucks. The structure sucks (and) the tournament's bad. Even the satellites haven't been as good as they normally would be," said Will Failla, also known as "The Thrill".

According to Failla, the floor people at Foxwoods don't know their own rules. "The Thrill" likes to talk during the game, and when the staff told him he wasn't allowed to, he was furious. "It says right there in their rules you can," he stated.

Amnon Filippi agreed, saying that people don't like the Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, because it's "in the middle of nowhere" and that the tournament staff is "semi-par".

Daniel Negreanu didn't play in the $10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em WPT event because of the casino's tax policy. He thinks the timing of the tournament is bad, as it collides with preliminary events for the WPT Championship at the Bellagio, and the new Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) at PokerStars.

With such tough competition it will always be difficult to attract people to a tournament. When it's located in the middle of nowhere with semi-par staff who don't know the rules it becomes even harder.
