With no ‘Triple COOP’ champions so far, it was still exciting to see that over the weekend a former SCOOP champion – Paul ‘padjes’ Berende from the Netherlands – added a TCOOP title to put him on the verge of a ‘Triple COOP’ crown when the WCOOP rolls around later this year. Berende was the victor of event 17, which was a $109 NL Hold’em contest with one rebuy and one add-on. He scooped the first prize of $105,906.68 after negotiating a deal with ‘bullyon’ from Canada heads-up.
The $109 NL Hold’em Heads-Up event (11) had the longest running time of all the tournaments held so far, clocking in at 9 hours, 15 minutes, although much of that time was due to players waiting for other matches to finish and the next round to start. Russian player ‘gorglav’ took it down, but Team PokerStars Pro Matthias ‘mattidm’ De Meulder went close, losing his penultimate match to ‘cannotletgo’ who went on to come second. De Meulder tied for third and pocketed just over $15k.
Finally, there was a familiar name at the final table of event 18, as ‘Mongy’ from the UK finished third for $31,138.70. Not sure where you’ve heard the name?
